Unique Technology in Perfection

Frankosorb® technologies has been convincing with excellent and consistent performance for over 30 years.

Frankonia’s absorber technology uses the unique nano-thin film technology, which was developed in the early 90’s by Professor Günter Nimtz and Achim Enders at the University of Cologne. The research is based on the absorption properties of thin two-dimensional layers on polyethylene films.

Together with Frankonia, these fundamental research results were further developed in order to generate and manufacture a new type of absorber material.

The Frankosorb® absorber technology combines a variety of high-performance standards in a single solution. Due to the consistent performance and the unique property of non-combustibility, a safe environment for people and test objects can be guaranteed.

The unique method of Frankosorb® technology and its specific manufacturing process is available either as a hybrid solution in combination with Ferrite absorbers, or as a stand-alone pyramid solution with a length up to 2,4 m. Based on our R&D focus dedicated to the automotive industry, the Frankosorb® unique A2 non-combustible characteristics are also available for antenna chambers.

Frankosorb® – At a Glance

Today, Frankonia’s Frankosorb® unique absorber technology is the only solution existing on the world market, that is…

is carbon-free,

guarantees long-term stable conditions,

is non-combustible in A2 per EN 13501-1,

and offers a safe environment for people and EUT.

Aligned with the individual customer requirements, Frankonia anechoic chambers are lined with high-performance Frankosorb® hybrid absorber or short-/ long-pyramid configurations.

In accordance with Frankonia’s modular and prefabricated standards, the Frankosorb® Hybrid Absorbers are fixed to the shielding using screwing or clamp methods. The complete structure can therefore be adapted to future requirements at any time and is also reversible.

Together with the unique Frankosorb® absorber technology, Frankonia anechoic chambers are the best choice for long-term investments.

Frankosorb® – Absorber Types

Pyramid Series: Short- or long-pyramid absorbers, for EMC

Hybrid Series: Short and long hybrid absorbers paired with Ferrites, for EMC

HF Series: Absorbers for Antenna Chambers

Frankosorb® Pyramid Series

The Frankosorb® pyramid absorbers are Frankonia’s unique an all-in-one solution typically from 30 MHz to 18/40 GHz. They are available either as short-pyramids P600 and P900 or as long-pyramids P2000, P2200, or P2400.

The most important advantage of the Frankosorb® long pyramid absorbers is the coverage of the whole frequency range starting from 26 MHz up to 40 GHz, so that additional Ferrite absorbers are unnecessary.

In order to enable a modular and modern installation of the pyramid absorbers, a clip-in substructure is installed on the inside of the shielding, into which the short or long pyramids with their specific size are securely hung. This means that the overall construction remains adaptable, and absorber can be removed one absorber at a time; nothing is glued or welded.

Features

P2000, P2200, or P2400: Typical frequency range 26/30 MHz to 18/40 GHz
(e.g., automotive & commercial chambers)

P600 or P900: Typical frequency range 80 MHz to 18/40 GHz
(e.g., MIL Chambers)

High quality prefabrication

Everything is hanged into rails

Frankosorb® long pyramid absorbers start already below 30 MHz (no Ferrite necessary)

No impedance matching problem

Removable long pyramid absorbers piece-by-piece

Frankosorb®thin-film technology

Absorbers available acc. to DIN EN 13501-1 in fire class B (hardly inflammable) or A2 (non-combustible)

Cost protective solution with Frankosorb® non-combustible A2 absorbers as no sprinkler or fire extinguishing system is necessary

Frankosorb® Hybrid Series

The Frankosorb® Hybrid Absorber Series are a combination of ferrite tiles with its typical frequency range of 30MHz- 1GHz, and in addition, short hybrid-pyramid absorbers, which are extending the typical frequency range up to 40 GHz.

The Ferrite tiles are prefabricated in factory on support plates with a size of 600 x 600 mm to provide a modular and modern installation screwing method. Thus, the gap between the ferrites is almost eliminated, and which helps to improve the performance in the low frequency range.

The prefabricated ferrites modules are screwed onto an internal substructure in a horizontal grip of 600 mm. The additional Frankosorb® Hybrid Absorber lining with improved impedance matching is also made with screwing installation method using a special fixation kit.

The overall construction remains adaptable and removable piece-by-piece; nothing is glued or welded.

Features

Typical frequency range 30 MHz to 18/40 GHz

High quality prefabrication

Everything is screwed

Optimized impedance matching between hybrids and ferrites

Removable hybrid absorbers piece-by-piece

Frankosorb®thin-film technology

Optimized absorber configuration and chamber lining

Absorbers available acc. to DIN EN 13501-1 in fire class B (hardly inflammable) or A2 (non-combustible)

Cost protective solution with Frankosorb® non-combustible A2 absorbers as no sprinkler or fire extinguishing system is necessary

Next Generation Hybrid Turbine Absorbers

The Frankosorb® Turbine next generation hybrid absorbers are classic hybrid setups in combination with Ferrite, but due to their modified size and shape, they significantly boost the low performance requirements. Depending on the performance characteristics and customer preferences, our hybrid chambers will be equipped with the next-generation turbine absorbers.

The performance is program and part of the name: H1300 Turbine or H1600 Turbine
